How can Canadians strategize to pay lower taxes and build important revenue through their real estate investments? Take the time to learn how this strategy can positively impact your portfolio and your life.

Make Your Mortgage Deductible & Pay It Off Faster

The Smith ManoeuvreTM has been growing in popularity with homeowners and investors across Canada. Why? Because Canadians pay some of the highest tax rate in the western world and we as tax payers are always looking for ways to legally reduce our taxes. A home purchase is usually the biggest investment and expense that most Canadians will undertake in their lives.

So what is it?  In short, The Smith ManoeuvreTM is a methodical approach to convert non-deductible debt your mortgage) to deductible debt.  It’s a very powerful tool and process that has been helping Canadians for the last 18 years in Canada, but strangely is not widely known.

The Smith ManoeuvreTM was initially created and articulated by Fraser Smith in 2002 in his book entitled The Smith Manoeuvre …Is your mortgage tax deductible? I purchased this book as it completely intrigued me to dig into it more with my accountant.

In 2019, in his new book Master Your Mortgage for Financial Freedom, Robinson Smith, Fraser’s son and recently a retired financial planner, took The Smith ManoeuvreTM concept and explained it in much greater depth. Not only did he explain everything about The Smith ManoeuvreTM, but introduced the 5 accelerators that dramatically improve the performance of the The Smith ManoeuvreTM.

Robinson Smith also systemized the concept with an online calculator so that we could understand various scenarios and created a certification process for those professions that can support individuals wishing to employ The Smith ManoeuvreTM:  This includes Mortgage Brokers, REALTORS®, Accountants, Investment Advisors, and legal conveyancers. The reason for this is there is a lot of misinformation about The Smith ManoeuvreTM online and Robinson’s intention is to ensure clarity and accuracy. If implemented correctly with discipline it can make a massive positive difference as previously stated

Why I Obtained Certification

  1. My accountant worked with me way back in the early 2000’s to implement The Smith ManoeuvreTM and I converted my mortgage in less than 10 years so I know it works despite the very rudimentary lending options available at that time.
  2. My strong desire to assist my clients to employ The Smith ManoeuvreTM when and where it’s appropriate as I know it is not necessarily right for everyone.

To help you better understand The Smith ManoeuvreTM I invite you to watch the webinar recording with Robinson Smith, Keaton Kirkwood, A Smith Manoeuvre Certified Mortgage broker, and I, where the concept, the 5 accelerators, and the calculator are discussed and all explained. As a bonus the back ½ of the video is a Q&A session that you may find helpful.
